Description of Female Holotype. Length 13.2 mm, width 4.8 mm; shining black with slight grey-blue reflected above, thoracic and anterior abdominal ventrites with strong cupreous reflection; dorsal surface with moderate density of shallow punctures, especially on medial portion of pronotal disc; pronotal disc also finely imbricate; lateral portion of elytral disc also rugulose; ventral surface with hypomeron imbricate; prosternal disc and median portion of remaining thoracic and abdominal ventrites finely punctulate; lateral portion of ventrites rugulose; dorsal surface glabrous except for widely separated black squamose setae in lateroposterior portion of pronotum and in narrow, in anterior depressions between humerus and suture, one oblique vita on either elytron from past humerus across and around orange setal spots and expanding in apical region posterior to second fascia; setae most dense along or anterior to apex and extending beyond outline of margin; two fasciae of stout, recumbent orange setae as follows: anterior fascia of one widely separated oblique elliptical spot on each elytron, slightly posterior to midpoint of length; posterior fascia nearly complete, transverse, at about posterior 4/5; ventral surface with stout, off-white recumbent setae moderately dense on lateral portion of ventrites. Head with frontovertex compressed, finely longitudinally depressed between large eyes; inner margin of eyes slightly diverging dorsally; circumocular grooves prominent, wide from opposite dorsal apex of eye to confluence with transverse supraantennal groove; frontoclypeus strongly compressed laterally, narrowed to very thin longitudinal strip between large antennal cavities; clypeal margin angularly emarginate; antennae short, extending only just beyond border with prosternum; antennomere 1 stout, longer than 2 or 3+4; 3 longer than 4; 5 triangularly serrate; 6–10 short with long lateral extension; 11 oblong, subequal to 6–10 in size; 6–11 each with short apical setae. Pronotum 1.2 times wider along posterior margin than maximum median length; anterior margin strongly arcuate medially; posterior margin bisinuate on either side of transverse prescutellar lobe; lateral margins arcuate from subacute lateroposterior angle to anterior margin; margin costate, rounded from dorsum around to hypomeron; disc flattened, even; lateral portion with small, feebly elevated, arcuate carina; scutellum large, triangular, anterior margin feebly concave, lateral margins arcuately concave, posterior apex strongly acuminate. Elytra wider across humeri than posterior margin of pronotum; lateral margins narrowing in straight line to about anterior 1/5, then narrowing less steeply to about midpoint before slightly widening, then narrowing gradually to angulate apex with separately rounded sutural angles; disc even, flattened with two depressed regions near anterior margin between humerus and suture; lateral margin entire except for angulate apical face which is dentate; epipleuron very short, extending only to about midpoint of mesosternum. Thoracic ventrites: prosternum with mentonniere entire, with single projecting lobe and evenly transverse distal margin; disc flattened, process slightly swollen laterally anterior to broad, attenuate apex; anterior portion of mesosternum depressed to receive middle leg in repose; metacoxal plate with anterior margin concave, posterior margin feebly arcuate; posterolateral angle subacute, rounded. Legs: femora narrowly fusiform; tibiae slender, feebly arcuate on external margin; metatibiae with sparse setal comb for almost entire length; tarsomere 5 longer than 1–4 together, claws bifid, inner claws only about half length of outer claws. Abdomen with dorsal portion of ventrites 1 and 2 are partially visible beyond elytral margin laterally; ventrite 1 slightly longer than 2, 1+2 longer than 3+4+5 together; suture between 1 and 2 visible laterally; distal margin of 5 with transversely carinate plate. Genitalia: the ovipositor of the holotype was not dissected.

Specimens Examined. Holotype ♀ ( CSCA): CAMEROUN, Centre , iii.1996, Desfontaine leg.

Etymology. The epithet bifasciata denotes the two orange elytral fasciae.

Comments. The single specimen of this remarkable new genus and species were received from a commercial collector working in Cameroun and subsequent attempts to obtain or borrow additional specimens have not been successful.
