Discussion. Radoszkowski (1874) described funebris from South Africa. The holotype has not been located. Cockerell (1937) clearly stated that M. funebris resembles M. ianthoptera and not M. aculeata , as suggested by Friese (1909). Until the holotype is found the true identity of this species remains in abeyance.
