Lectotype ( D’Arcy in Woodson & Schery in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 62: 1178. 1975): Herb. Linn. No. 975.8 ( LINN) .

Current name: Bidens pilosa L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Sherff (in Publ. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 16: 414-415. 1937) discussed the original elements for the name but did not designate any one of them as the type. D’Arcy appears to have been the first to make a formal choice of 975.8 (LINN) as type, and this has been followed by many recent authors.
