Type locality: Brazil (“ Eben daher [ Brasilien]”). Type material: Unsexed lectotype (NHMW), designated by Vaz-de-Mello & Cupello (2018a: 50); location of paralectotypes unknown.

Canthon punctatus Schmidt, 1922: 72 View in CoL [replacement name for Canthon puncticollis Redtenbacher, 1868 View in CoL . Transferred to Canthidium (Canthidium) View in CoL by Vaz-de-Mello & Cupello (2018a: 50; see also Vaz-de-Mello & Cupello 2018b); here transferred to the subgenus Neocanthidium View in CoL ]. Distribution: Brazil: Minas Gerais (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).

Canthidium excisipes Balthasar, 1939: 123 View in CoL [synonymized by Vaz-de-Mello & Cupello (2018a: 51)]. Type locality: Brazil: Minas Gerais (“ Brasilia , Minas Geraes ”). Type material: Unsexed holotype (NMPC—ex Balthasar collection).
