Canthidium titschacki Balthasar, 1939: 138 [here transferred to the subgenus Neocanthidium ]. Type locality: Paraguay: Concepción: Arroyito: Horquetá, and “ Chaco ” (“ Paraguay (Chaco) und Horquetá”). Type material: According to Bezděk & Hájek (2012), one male syntype in NMPC—ex Balthasar collection [according to Balthasar (1939), there was also a unknown number of syntypes housed at the ZMUB. Nonetheless, in July 1943, during the Allied bombing of Hamburg, the Coleoptera collection of that museum was destroyed ( Klapperich 1948; Weidner 1976)]. Distribution: Paraguay (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).

Canthidium tuberifrons Howden & Young, 1981: 76 [here transferred to the subgenus Neocanthidium ]. Type locality: Panama: Chiriquí, 15 km northwest of Hato del Volcán, Hartmann’s Finca, 1,500 m (“ Panama, Chiriqui Prov. 1500 m, 15 NW Hato del Volcan, Hartmann’s Finca”). Type material: Holotype male (CMNC—ex Howden collection); see full list of paratypes in Howden & Young (1981: 76). Distribution: Panama (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).
