Remarks. The following taxa are treated from the study area: P. (E.) e. episcopalis , P. (E.) e. corticosus , P. (E.) e. auriformis , P. (E.) plectostylus , P. (E.) subglandiformis , P. (E.) dalmasi , P. (E.) piperatoides , P. (E.) argenteus , P. (E.) lynciculus and P. (E.) nocturnus .

Richardson (1995) grouped P. (E.) apolinari Pilsbry, 1935 together with P. (E.) corticosus ( Sowerby III, 1895) and followed Pilsbry (1935) in including P. (E.) episcopalis within the genus “ Plectostylus .” We consider the following three forms, P. episcopalis , P. corticosus (including apolinari ) and P. auriformis to differ only at the subspecific level, and treat them under the nominal form, P. (E.) episcopalis (Pfeiffer, 1855) ; see also remarks under each subspecies.
