Distribution. Atlanto-Mediterranean. The species was reported from Cyprus by Kocatas et al. (2001). In Vasiliko Bay (current study), it is considered as a constant species (FI: 64.28 %).
Ecology. Perioculodes longimanus was found in association with seagrasses and soft-bottom sediments (sand, mud, mud-sand mixture) at 1–45 m depth ( Kocatas et al. 2001). In Vasiliko Bay it was found at depths of 4–48 m (18 + 13 m), in muddy sand and sand with organic matter ranging between 2.2–11.119 % (5.206 + 2.753 %) and in association with C. prolifera , C. cylindracea , C. nodosa and P. oceanica . It was found in stations classified according to the Bentix index as: “high” (7 stations, 98 individuals), “good” (9 stations, 127 individuals), “moderate” (10 stations, 85 individuals) and “poor” (1 station, 1 individual). It was recorded at fish farm stations (32 individuals), at the ports (33 individuals) and at the power station outlet stations (15 individuals).
