Type species Bakeriella flavicornis Kieffer 1910a: 289 , by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Length varying from about 3.0 to 8.0 mm. Body predominantly black, few species with metallic reflection. Wings hyaline or subhyaline. Mandible with two or five apical teeth. Median clypeal lobe well projected forward. Lateral clypeal lobes usually inconspicuous. Median clypeal carina usually conspicuous and complete. Antenna with 11 flagellomeres. Occipital carina complete. Eye hairy. Notaulus present, usually almost complete posteriorly and widening posterad. Parapsidal furrow present, usually straight. Scutellar pits usually not connected by any groove. Metasoma well developed medially, scutellum and propodeal disc not in contact medially. Propodeal disc with three discal carinae, median carina complete, paramedian carina usually incomplete posteriorly, posterior corner usually conspicuously foveolate. Propodeal declivity with median carina. Forewing with three closed cells, (costal, median and submedian), radial vein always present and long. Mesopleuron with lower margin of lower fovea fused to episternal groove. Male genitalia: Paramere usually wide; digitus progressively narrowing apicad, apex acute, dorsal surface denticulate; aedeagus without constriction between apical and basal halves, ventral surface with conspicuous projection ventrad, apodeme usually thick ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 36 – 50. 36 – 42 ).
