Taipodisma viriditibia sp. nov.

( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 )

Holotype: ♂, Taibei, Taiwan, 1976-IV-28, collected by Li Xi-Min; paratype: ♀, Wulai, Taiwan, 24º47´N, 121º29´E, 1987-XI-12, collected by Hu Wei-Zao.

Location of type specimens: Institute of Entomology, Taiwan University, Taibei, Taiwan, China.

Male ( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 a-f) Body median in size. Head larger and short, shorter than length of pronotum. Face slightly oblique in profile. Frontal ridge almost parallel, widened slightly between antennae, Antennae filiform, 22 segments, surpassing the posterior margin of pronotum distinctly, length of a middle segment 4.0 times its width. Eyes globose, longitudinal diameter 1.4 times horizontal diameter and 2.0 times subocular furrow. Pronotum cylindrical, anterior margin slightly concaved in the middle; median keel very low, visible in metazona only, distinctly cut by three transverse sulci; lateral keels absent; prozona is 1.7 times of metazona in length; hind margin curved. Prosternal process nearly cylindrical, apex slender. The length of interspace of mesosterum is 2.0 times of the narrowest, lateral lobes of metasternum separated slightly. Tegmina short, lateral, the apex extending over the hind margin of first abdominal tergite. The upper keel of hind femur smooth, length of hind femur 4.1 times its maximum width, the end of lower knee lobes rounded. Hind tibia with 9 or 10 spines on inner side and 9 spines on outer side, external apical spine absent. Second joint of hind tarsus shorter than the first joint. Tympanum distinct, big and rotund. Basal part of epiproct with longitudinal groove in the middle, furculae invisible. Cercus compressed, almost reaching the tip of epiproct, apex curved toward inner side. Subgenital plate short-tapered. Phallic complex and epiphallus as shown in Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 e, f.

Female ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 g, h, i). Body more robust. Longitudinal diameter of eyes 1.6 times horizontal diameter and 1.5 times subocular furrow. Prozona is 1.6 times metazona in length. Tegmina short, lateral, the apex extending over the hind margin of first abdominal tergite slightly. Length of the hind femur as long as 3.9 times of its maximum width. Epiproct triangular, with longitudinal groove in the middle at base only. Cercus short-conical, reaching about 2/3 of the epiproct. Length of subgenital plate longer than width. Ovipositor valve thick and short, hooked in the end, with small teeth on outer margin.

Coloration: Body brown. Antennae yellow. Pronotum yellowish-brown. Tegmina yellowish-brown. Hind femur yellowish-brown, knee dark. Hind tibia yellowish-green. Abdomen yellowish-brown. Subgenital plate brown.

Measurement (in mm). Length of body: ♂ 22.2, ♀ 37.5. Length of tegmina: ♂ 3.9, ♀ 6.8. Length of pronotum: ♂ 5.4, ♀ 8.0. Length of hind femur: ♂12.8, ♀ 18.8.

Diagnosis. The new species Taipodisma viriditibia sp. nov. is similar to Taipodisma hsiehi Yin et al, 2014 . The major differences are listed in Table 1 View TABLE 1 .

Etymology The specific epithet is named for viridi - and - tibia meaning the hind tibia green in Latin.
