Tramea abdominalis (Rambur, 1842) View in CoL

Adults are large, red, with the hindwing bearing a longitudinal brown-red basal spot, and the thorax is red to brown entirely. We found this species everywhere there was fresh or brackish water (including around mangrove forests), and although the adults regularly cruised ghuts, the nymphs were always in lentic conditions. We also found adults cruising in open areas, such as fields, golf courses, and roads. Donnelly (2002) consolidated records from St. Thomas and St. John, reporting adults from roads and hilltops. It occurs from sea level to 164 m elevations in Puerto Rico ( Ramírez et al. 2020).
