Erythrodiplax berenice naeva (Hagen, 1861) View in CoL
We found both nymphs and adults. Mature adults are brownish, with smoky patches on the wing leading edges. This species is common and widespread on St. Thomas. At Spring Road ghut, larvae were found in algal mats on the front of the distribution tank, below the crack in the tank wall. Other St. Thomas localities include Mahogany Run, the Herman E. Moore Golf Course at UVI, Bolongo pond, and Fortuna pond. Adults were observed cruising over low brush in open areas at Mahogany Run, and in sunny openings in the forest at Spring Road ghut. Donnelly (2002) reported it around saline pools and above mangroves from St. Thomas. Ramírez et al. (2020) provided records of this species, but no subspecies are included.
