Thermonectes sp.

Larvae of Thermonectes were found by us on St. Thomas from the ponds on Mahogany Run and the water hazards at the Herman E. Moore Golf Course on the University of the Virgin Islands campus. Four species are reported from Cuba, Guadaloupe, Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico ( Leng and Mutchler 1914; Wolcott 1948b; Alarie et al. 2009), and T. circumscriptus (Latreille, 1809) is reported from St. Thomas and St. Croix ( Leng and Mutchler 1917; Peck 2016). However, adults are required to make a specific determination, so our material is left at genus for now.
