Lectotype (designated by Wheeler [1941: 252–254]):—COUNTRY UNKNOWN. Without locality, Anonymous s.n. (LINN-630.10!).
Photographs: — Fig. 7 D–E View FIGURE 7 in Silva et al. (2014).
Distribution and habitat: — Euphorbia thymifolia is a worldwide tropical and subtropical weed ( Silva et al. 2014) with a mostly ruderal environmental preference. In SC this species has been collected in the following municipalities: Blumenau, Florianópolis, Navegantes, Penha and Rodeio ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ).
Conservation status: —Least Concern (LC).
Notes: —Despite being a very common species in SC, E. thymifolia was until recently confused mainly with E. prostrata Aiton (1789: 139) , but also with E. serpens Kunth (in Humboldt et al. 1817: 52), in taxonomic and floristic works. Thus we present here the first bibliographic reference on the occurrence of E. thymifolia in SC.
