Bombus cullumanus cullumanus (Kirby, 1802) View in CoL

In the Iberian Peninsula, only six individuals of the nominal subspecies were known ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ) in locations from the Pyrenees and Navarra, between 1200 and 2300 m ( Rasmont 1988; Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2004), resembling a small, fragmented and declining population (Rasmont et al. 2006, Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2011). Some historical Pyrenean records are uncertain. In recent Pyrenean samplings, it has been collected once at 1000 m ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ) in a forestal pasture on Sedum sediforme (Jacq.) Pau. The last previous records of this species included two individuals from 1982 ( Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2011).

B. cullumanus cullumanus was assessed as Vulnerable in IUCN Spanish Red List ( Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2011). It has an elevational tendency, and it is declining in the Pyrenees ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 , Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ).
