Remarks. The type specimen was not found in the collection of the MNHN. Specimens resembling the beetle il- lustrated in Gay (1854) and identified in 1800s and early 1900s by other coleopterists as Elodes velutina belong to an undescribed genus (Ruta in litt.). A supposed larva of Elodes velutina was described by Ruta et al. (2018).
