Description of holotype. Size: 3.6 mm. Body. Shape: cuneiform; Build: robust; Posterior tapering part: short with broad apex; Color (dorsally): unicolored. Head. Medial impression: absent; Epistoma: in plane with frons. Vertex: Sculpture elements: rugae; Sculpture aspect: arcuate. Eyes: Size: subequal to half width of vertex (dorsal view); Lower margin: in line or below antennal socket; Median orbit: subparallel. Antennae: Serration: from antennomere 4. Pronotum. Shape: visually transverse; Sides: slightly arcuate; Maximal width: at middle; Anterior margin: narrower than posterior. Anterior lobe: Development: obvious; Shape: arcuate; Width: broad; Position: at level with anterior angles. Posterior angles: Shape: rectangular. Disk: Convexity: strongly convex; Impressions: lateral only; Lateral impressions (depth): shallow. Aedeagus ( Fig. 5FView FIGURE5): Symmetry: symmetric; Shape: widest in basal part; Profile: convex; Modifications: markedly bent.

Variability. Size: 3.2–4.1 mm. The extent and shape of elytral pubescence varies considerably in both, proximal and distal part. Sexual dimorphism. The male has the basal ventrite with feeble impression. Frons, antennae, legs and pronotal sides has golden –green hue.

Diagnosis. Agrilus ecalcaratus  sp. nov. belongs to the group of species with expanded proximal part of aedeagus ( Tab. 1) ( Fig. 5FView FIGURE5). It differs from them by lacking cluster of setae on apex of metatibiae.

Distribution. India (Meghalaya); Laos (Bolikhamxai, Houaphan, Louangphabang, Vientiane); Thailand (Mae Hong Son, Nakhon Ratchasima, Tak); Vietnam (Lam Dong).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective and is derived from the Greek ek (out of) and Latin calcar (spur). It refers to lacking spur –like cluster of setae on metibiae, which is frequently present in species of A. humilis  species group.
