Paracleodoxus Monné & Monné View in CoL gen. nov.

Type species: Paracleodoxus cineraceus sp. nov.

Description. Body flattened; pubescence appressed, without erect elytral setae. Head large; genae not elongated below. Eyes moderately finely faceted, upper and lower lobes connected by several rows of facets. Antennal tubercles rounded, feebly elevated. Antennae 11-segmented, filiform, longer than body in both sexes. Scape elongated, reaching anterior margin of prothorax. Pronotum flattened, subquadrate, apex as wide as base, sides tuberculated in beginning of posterior third. Disk with three slightly elevated prominences, two near anterior margin and one centro-basal. Prosternal process narrow, planar, about 1/3 width of a procoxa; mesosternal process approximately ½ width of a mesocoxa. Elytra flattened, with longitudinal centro-basal crista and lateral carina extending from humeri to external apex. Femorae pedunculate-clavate; tibiae elongated; metatarsi I 1.5 times as long as II+III.

Etymology. Greek, Para, meaning near, plus Cleodoxus , a genus of Acanthocinini .

Remarks. Paracleodoxus shares with Acanthodoxus Martins & Monné, 1974 , Cleodoxus Thomson, 1864 , and Lathroeus Thomson, 1864 the following characters: body without erect setae; pronotum with median or slightly post-median lateral tubercle; and elytra with centro-basal crista and lateral carinae, extending from the humeri to the external apex. The new genus differs from Cleodoxus and Lathroeus by the pronotum with very feeble elevations, whereas in these genera the tubercles are elevated and prominent. Paracleodoxus differs from Acanthodoxus by the very low centro-basal crista; in Acanthodoxus the centro-basal crista is elevated and bears a toothed projection on the posterior margin.
