Material examined. Argentina, Tucumán, 31.I.1904, col. C. Bruch (1, MACN) .

Distribution. Argentina: Tucumán.

Comments. This record is based on a single specimen identified by Bruch as P. nitidulus Mannerheim from Tucumán. Species in this genus are very difficult to identify based on single specimens and this specimen is in poor condition. If Bruch’s identification is correct, it would be considered an introduced or intercepted species (not established) since this species is native to the Northwestern United States and Southwestern Canada, in trees of the northern distribution of the genera Pinus , Abies and Picea ( Wood & Bright 1992) . No further specimens of this species were found over the course of this study. It is also possible that it is an unrecognized local species.
