( Figs 5. A–E View FIGURE 5. A – E )

Diagnosis. Surface of prodorsum foveolate, surface of notogaster punctate. Lateral carinae of prodorsum absent. Head of sensilli of globular shape. Exobothridial setae vestigial. Setae d of femora I, remote from distal end.

Description. Measurements of holotype: prodorsum: length 182, width 131, height 73; sensillus 20, setae: interlamellar 40, lamellar 15, rostral 18; notogaster: length 333, width 227, height 192; setae: c1 51, h1 332, p1 38; genitoaggenital plate 88 x58; anoadanal plate 142 x78.

Colour brown. Surface of prodorsum covered with deep concavities, integument of notogaster punctate.

Prodorsum with distinct sigillar fields and posterior furrows. Lateral carinae absent. Sensilli short, with short pedicel and rounded head, rather smooth. Setae, except vestigial exobothridial, erect, spiniform and rough; in> ro> le.

Notogaster with 15 pairs of relatively short (c1 <c1–d1), rigid, rough setae; setae c1 and c3 positioned near anterior margin, setae c2 far remote from margin. Vestigial setae f1 at the level of setae h1. Two pairs of lyrifissures, ia and im, present.

Ventral region; setae h of mentum slightly shorter than distance between them. Genitoaggenital plates with 9 pairs of setae with formula: 6(4+2): 3. Anoadanal plates each with 5 well-developed setae of almost equal length.

Legs. Formulae of setae and solenidia of complete type. Setae d on femora I considerably remote from distal end of article.

Types. Holotype: BO-3.

Comparison. This species is distinguishable from other Hoplophthiracarus species by the following character states in combination: globular sensilli, different structure of body surface (foveolate prodorsum and punctate notogaster) and the position of setae d on femora I, remote from distal end. No other species of Hoplophthiracarus have these combination of character states.

Etymology. The species is named in honour of Dr. Remigiusz Mielcarek, world traveller, an eminent tropical botanist, and my guide and companion during several exotic expeditions.
