Allophrys falcatus Reshchikov, 2017

Original description: Yue et al. 2017: 190.

Holotype: female, Philippines, Davao, Mt. Malambo , Malaise trap, 15.VI.2015, coll. Yuchen Ang, Alma Mohagan, Reizl Jose & Kay Ramos. Deposited in the Museum of Natural History Manila, the Philippines.

Remarks. The species is a distinct member of the family Braconidae , and by having the combination of the specificity of the wing venation and structure of the metasoma and head, it belongs to the subfamily Euphorinae . The true generic assignment of A. falcatus currently is unclear because the Oriental fauna of Euphorinae is poorly known and the original description of this species is insufficient. According to the good quality images ( Yue et al. 2017: Figs 10–18), we preliminarily include this taxon in the euphorine genus Microctonus Wesmael, 1835 (comb. nov.) on the base of the following characters: the first medial abscissa (1-SR+M) and second radiomedial vein (r-m) in the fore wing absent; vertex and most parts of mesoscutum and mesopleuron smooth; face narrow; presence of deep notauli and precoxal sulcus. However, it is quite possible that this taxon is a member of an undescribed euphorine genus close to Microctonus because it has the first metasomal tergite very narrow, almost not widened in the apical half, petiolate-shaped (see Yue et al. 2017: Fig. 13); metasoma behind petiole distinctly compressed laterally (see Yue et al. 2017: Fig. 18); and the curve of third cubital abscissa (3-CU1) very gently (see Yue et al. 2017: Fig. 14). The taxonomic position of A. falcatus within the Euphorinae can be finally clarified after exanimation of the holotype.
