Notes. (1) The specimen supposed by Daniel to be a female and designated by him as ‘allotype’ is a male in fact. (2) The single Taiwanese specimen examined displays some differences in both the superficial appearance and the male genitalia structures from the continental specimens of M. tienmushanica and the Taiwanese population may represent a distinct taxon. However, currently it is impossible to make a taxonomic decision and describe it due to the lack of a representative material.
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 11.5–13.0 mm in males, smaller than all the other congeners (see measures below). In the male genitalia, the length of the dorsal diverticulum of the phallus vesica and the size of its apical cluster of spinules are variable ( Figs 9–11 View FIGURES 9–11 ). Manulea tienmushanica is most superficially reminiscent of M. diaforetica sp. n., the detailed comparison is provided below in the diagnosis of the latter species. In the male genitalia, the narrow vesica with two tubular diverticula bearing apical clusters of spinules is diagnostic for the species.
The female is unknown.
Distribution. East (Zhejiang, Hunan, and the Jiangxi / Fujian border) ( Daniel 1954) and Southwest (Sichuan) mainland China and the island of Taiwan.
