Diagnosis. Ray pubescent. Mesonotum with a pair of medial stripes extending to tip of scutellum, a pair of stripes along dc rows extending to postsutural second dc, a pair of short lateral stripes behind transverse suture; acr in irregular 8 rows. Wing pale yellow with brown spots, including elliptical apical spot on R2+3, small round apical spot on R4+5, two spots between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, transverse stripe-like apical spot on M1, brown clouds on r-m and dm-cu; subcostal cell brown apically. Abdomen yellow, male tergites 1–6 (female 1–7) with black triangular middle strip and tergites 3–6 (female 3–7) with a pair of narrow brown lateral bands along posterior margin.

Redescription. MALE. Body length 4.1–4.4 mm, wing length 4.1–4.5 mm. FEMALE. Body length 3.9–4.1 mm, wing length 3.9–4.1 mm.

Head ( Figs 291, 292 View FIGURES 289 – 294 ) yellow. Frons nearly as long as wide and parallel-sided, with a pair of brown medial stripes extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle brown; oc shorter than anterior or; anterior or shorter than posterior or; gena as high as 1/8 height of eye. Antennal 1st flagellomere 1.3 times longer than height; ray pubescent, with longest ray shorter than 1/4 height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis and palpus pale yellow.

Thorax ( Fig. 293 View FIGURES 289 – 294 ) yellow. Mesonotum with a pair of medial stripes, a pair of stripes along dc rows extending to postsutural second dc, a pair of short lateral stripes behind transverse suture; acr in irregular 8 rows, prsc shorter than postsutural 1st dc. Legs yellow. Fore femur with 3 strong pv, 6 pd, and ctenidium with 16 short setae; fore tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 7 a; mid tibia with 2 strong preapical ad and 1 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 289 View FIGURES 289 – 294 ) pale yellow with brown spots: elliptical apical spot on R2+3, small round apical spot on R4+5, two spots between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, transverse stripe-like apical spot on M1, brown clouds on r-m and dm-cu; subcostal cell brown apically; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 4.1:1.6:1; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1:1.6; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/7 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.

Abdomen ( Fig. 294 View FIGURES 289 – 294 ) yellow, male tergites 1–6 (female 1–7) with black triangular middle strip and tergites 3–6 (female 3–7) with a pair of narrow brown lateral bands along posterior margin. Male genitalia ( Figs 295–299 View FIGURES 295 – 299 ): syntergosternite circular with dorsal setulae; epandrium with a deep subapical concavity and a blunt triangular process on posterior margin in lateral view; surstylus claviform with several long setulae and tiny teeth, bulged at middle in lateral view; hypandrium broad, hypandrial apodeme long; pregonite short and broad, with four long setae; aedeagus with a pair of small lateral teeth, a deeply distal incision and a pair of crossed subuliform dorsal processes in ventral view, aedeagal apodeme long.

Type material. Holotype ♂ ( SDEI), CHINA, Formosa ( Taiwan): Kosempo, V. 1912, H. Sauter. Allotype ♀, CHINA, same data as holotype. Paratypes: 3 ♂, 2 ♀, CHINA, same data as holotype; 1 ♂, CHINA, Formosa ( Taiwan): Taihoku, 1912, H. Sauter.
