Type:— INDIA. Karnataka: South Canara, Rippon Peth-Tirthahalli road, C. R. Kulkarni 74.2875 ( AMH, holotype, not seen) .

Thallus corticolous, beige to brownish green, smooth, corticate. Lirellae prominent to sessile with a constricted base and a thick lateral to almost complete thalline margin, elongate, up to 4 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, simple, labia striate, slightly divergent ( balaghatensis -morph). Exciple uncarbonized, light brownish; hymenium clear, ascospores 1 (–2)/ascus, very large, densely muriform, 110–200 × 30–65 μm.

Chemistry: stictic acid (anal. K. Kalb).

Distribution and habitat:—The species is reported from several provinces in India and for the first time from Thailand by J. Kalb & Kalb (2017). It was found growing on the bark of deciduous trees in semi-evergreen forests and moist secondary forests.

Material from Thailand examined:— Nakhon Ratchasima province: Khao Yai National Park , former golf course region, in a moist secondary forest, ± 715 m, 14°25’29’’ N, 101°22’17’’ E, 12 March 2011, K. Kalb & V. Poengsungnoen 38768, (hb. K. Kalb) GoogleMaps .
