Type :— INDIA. Andaman Islands , North Andaman , Mayabander Range, Kaichi Nala, in a moist deciduous forest, 30 December 1985, M. B. Nagarkar & P. K. Sethy 85.2757 ( AMH, holotype, not seen) .

Thallus corticolous, grey or whitish to brownish grey, smooth, corticate, dull or slightly glossy. Lirellae immersed to erumpent, with a complete thalline margin and a slit-like disc, long to very long, up to 10 mm long, straight, curved or sinuose, simple or irregularly branched, labia entire ( balaghatensis -morph). Exciple light brownish, not carbonized; ascospores 8/ascus, 7–9-trans-septate, 20–35 × 5–7 μm.

Chemistry: stictic acid (major), constictic acid (minor) (anal. K. Kalb).

Distribution and habitat:—The species is known from the Andaman Islands and Fiji and was reported from Thailand for the first time by J. Kalb & Kalb (2017). It was growing on bark of a deciduous tree in a lowland rainforest along a rivulet in the easternmost province along the Thai coast at 100 m.

Remarks:—This specimen was sequenced and published in Rivas Plata et al. (2012) but not included in the lichen checklist for Thailand ( Buaruang et al. 2017).
