Type :— JAVA. s.c., s.n. (L, holotype, G!, isotype) .

Thallus corticolous, gray, off-white, pale olive green or greenish gray, smooth, corticate, dull or parly glossy. Lirellae erumpent, with a lateral thalline margin, elongate, up to 4 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, simple or irregulary branched, labia convergent, striate, not pruinose, black, sometimes whitish because of rests of thalline cover, disc concealed, not visible from above, ( tenella -morph). Exciple apically to peripherally carbonized (laterally dark brown, not carbonized); hymenium clear; ascospores 8/ascus, hyaline, transversely 3–9-septate, (18–) 23–34 × 6–8 μm.

Chemistry:stictic acid (major), α- acetylconstictic acid (major to trace), constictic acid (major to minor), hypostictic acid (minor to trace), peristictic acid (major to minor), ± cryptostictic acid (minor).

Distribution and habitat:—Pantropical ( Lücking et al. 2009), reported from Java (type locality), Papua New Guinea, Indonesia ( Aptroot & Sparrius 2008 –present), China ( Lücking et al. 2009) and the first time for Thailand, Loei province from Poengsungnoen et al. (2010). We collected it in a palm tree plantation, on freestanding trees and in a secondary forest between 20 an 130 m elevation.

Remarks:—The range of spore size and spore septation even within one collection is remarkable for a species with comparable small ascospores. An extented chemistry is presented here for the first time. It is possible that our material also includes Graphis stenotera Vain. , described from the Philippines, which is separated from G. vittata in having smaller and less septate ascospores.

Material from Thailand examined:— Ranong province: Area of Ban Heownumsai, along side road from Phetkasem Road ( Road #4) to Ton Petch Waterfall ( Rainbow Waterfall ), ca. 30 km S of Ranong City , in a palm tree plantation, 20 m. 09°43’28’’ N, 98°36’52’’ E, 6 June 2015 J. Sutjaritturakan & K. Kalb s.n. (hb. K. Kalb 41558, 41564); dito, Pungaban Waterfall, at Phetkasem Road (Road #4), ca. 25 km NNE of Ranong City, parking area opposite of the waterfall, on freestanding deciduous trees, 95 m, 10°03’56’’ N, 98°40’10’’ E, 6 June 2015 J. Sutjaritturakan & K. Kalb s.n. (hb. K. Kalb 41194)— Phuket province: Thalang district , in the area of Kho Rang, on bark of an unidentified tree in a secondary forest, 130 m, 07°53’40’’ N, 98°22’48’’ E, 22 April 2012, J.
