Vernacular Names: Peruvian Armored Tree-rat.
Distribution: C and N Amazonian Peru.
Conservation: IUCN – Data Deficient as Echimys rhipidurus .
Discussion: Elevated to species by Emmons and Feer (1990:216) and placed in the genus Makalata by Emmons and Feer (1997:239).
