Celtis mildbraedii Engler (1909: 309) View in CoL View at ENA .

Type: — AFRICA. Congo Republic, Orientale prov., March 1908, fr., G.W.J. Mildbraed 2897 [B: First-step lectotype designated by Polhill in Kew Bull. 19(1): 140 (1964). Second-step lectotype designated here, B barcode 10 0057907!; isolectotype B barcode 10 0057899!] .

Syntypes: —AFRICA. Congo Republic, “bei Mokoko ”, March 1908, G.W.J. Mildbraed 2934 (missing material); AFRICA. Congo, “im Urwald von Kwa Muera nordwestlich von Beni”, January 1908, G.W.J. Mildbraed 2150 (missing material) .

Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. mildbraedii, Engler (1909) cited the syntypes G.W.J. Mildbraed 2150, 2897, and 2934 without specifying the herbarium in which specimens were conserved. Polhill (1964) chose specimen G.W.J. Mildbraed 2897 in B as lectotype. Two specimens of Mildbraed 2897 were located in B. Considering that Polhill (1964) did not specify which of these was the lectotype, we propose a second lectotypification step (ICN Art. 9.17) and designate the specimen in Herb. B with barcode 10 0057907 as the lectotype of C. mildbraedii . We selected this specimen because it has a greater number of fruits. In an attempt to locate the remaining syntypes, we contacted the curators of A, B, BM, BR, HBG, K, P, PRE, and UPS (Mildbraed collection deposit herbaria, see Stafleu & Cowan 1981: 484) and were informed that no additional material was found.

Taxonomic notes: —Accepted species ( Sattarian et al. 2006).
