Celtis durandii Engler (1900: 22) View in CoL View at ENA .

Type: — AFRICA. Congo Republic, Bas-Congo, without date, fr., P.Dupuis s.n. (lectotype, designated here, BR barcode 0000008969224!; isolectotypes B barcode 10 0057861!, BR barcode 0000008968241!, BR barcode 0000008968890!) .

Syntype: —AFRICA. Tanzania, Tanga, Tanganyka, Usagara , 28 May 1807, von Trotha 171 (syntype B barcode 100057860!) .

Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. durandii, Engler(1900) cited the syntypes Dupuis s.n. (“ in Herb. Brüssel ”) and von Trotha 171 (without specifying the herbarium). Polhill (1964) and Sattarian et al. (2006) stated that the Dupuis material was in B and BR, and the von Trotha material in B. Five samples were located, four from Dupuis and one from von Trotha. Considering that Engler (1900) did not specify the holotype and that Polhill (1964) and Sattarian et al. (2006) did not choose a lectotype, we designated the specimen at Herb. BR with barcode 0000008969224 as the lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because this specimen has more leaves than the others.

Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of Sparrea gomphophylla ( Fu et al. 2022) .
