scientific name

Celtis bequaerti De Wildeman (1921
status

Celtis bequaerti De Wildeman (1921 : B2).

Type: — AFRICA. Congo, Masisi – Walikale, 1915, fl., J. Bequaert 6444 [BR: First-step lectotype, designated by Polhill in Kew Bull. 19(1): 140 (1964). Second-step lectotype designated here, BR barcode 000000897115!; isolectotypes BR barcode 000000897114!, BR barcode 000000897116!] .

Syntype: —AFRICA. Congo, Penghe , 25 January 1914, fr., J. Bequaert 2087 (syntypes BR barcode 000000896857!, BR barcode 000000896890!) .

Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. bequaerti, De Wildeman (1921) cited the syntypes J. Bequaert 2087 and 6444 without specifying the herbarium in which specimens were conserved. Pohlhill (1964) reported that the lectotype (Bequaert 6444) is in BR. Three samples were located in BR. Considering that in BR there are three samples and that Polhill (1964) did not specify the type, we propose a second lectotypification step (ICN Art. 9.17) and designate the specimen in Herb. BR with barcode 000000897115 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), since this specimen has more flowers than the other specimens.

Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of C. mildbraedii ( Sattarian et al. 2006) .
