ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 166 (key), 168 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ missum, cum aliis insectis alpinis [sent with other insects from the Alps]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype ( MZUF: Box 11): Ptilops Rnd. / nubilis Rnd. / 546.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Macquartia pubiceps ( Zetterstedt, 1845) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 314) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 168) described Ptilops nubilis from a single male: “ Marem unicum possiedo a Clar. Genéo olim missum [I have a single male sent once by Mr. Genè]”. Herting (1969: 197) reported one male in the MZUF.
