Thryptocera palpalis Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 13 (key), 14 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi [Parmese territory ( Italy)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (dirty) ( MZUF: Box 9): Triptocera [sic!] Mcqrt / palpalis Rnd. / 443.
PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♀ (glued to a cardboard stage, missing left mid- and both hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 9): Triptocera [sic!] Mcqrt / palpalis Rnd. / 443.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Actia crassicornis ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 329, Andersen 1996: 63).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 14) described Thryptocera palpalis without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens or giving a single measurement of length, but stated collecting the species twice: “ bis lecta [collected twice]”. Herting (1969: 198) designated a lectotype (♀). Not included by him in the type series is an additional female numbered “443”, which he considered as belonging to a different species, but it is still a paralectotype.
