ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1840b: 24.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in sylva Guardasonis , in diction. parmen. [Parmese Guardasone forest ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (on a slide, missing wings and antennae, head crushed) ( MZUF: “ Diptera Rondani 4: n° 13” ex Box 65): 3318 / Neurolyga Rnd. / silvalis Rnd. / ex Cass. 65 collezione Rondani mounted XI.1994, Gagné/Malikul Can. Balsam / ♂ Neurolyga silvalis Rondani , lectotype (to be desig. by Jaschhof).

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Campylomyza silvalis ( Skuhravá, 1986: 89; Dahl et al. 1995: 25); valid species, as Polyardis silvalis View in CoL ( Jaschhof 1998: 322, Gagné 2010: 44, Gagné & Jaschhof 2017: 61).

REMARKS: Rondani (1840b: 24) described Neurolyga silvalis , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens but reported: “ Bis lecta [Collected twice]”. Jaschhof (1998: 323) designated a lectotype (♂).
