Hybotidae

This worldwide family, once considered a subfamily of Empididae , contains 2,074 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). In his “ Stirps Empidina ” Rondani (1856, 1875c) described an Oriental species, considered as valid, and a Palaearctic one not included in any catalog ( Smith 1975, Chvála & Wagner 1989, Yang et al. 2007). In his paper on the Rondani types at MZUB, Morge (1959b) listed three unpublished names (nomina nuda ) of Rondani. The type material has been recovered for all nominal species and is distributed between the MZUF (one) and the MSNG (one).
