ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875b: 173 (key), 174 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi [Parmese territory ( Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 35) (abdomen and terminalia on a slide on a separate pin labeled “1872, Agr. rondensis, K.A Spencer, 1986 / 5837, 29.X.1986, D. obscuritarsis K.A.S. (? = rondensis )”: Domomyza Rnd. / obscuritarsis Rnd. / 1872 / lectotype / Domomyza obscuritarsis K.A. Spencer det., 1986, ♂.

PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♀ (missing head and right wing) ( MZUF: Box 35): paralectotype / Domomyza Rnd. / obscuritarsis Rnd. / 1872 / Domomyza obscuritarsis K.A. Spencer det., 1986, ♀ / No head, K.A. Spencer det., 1986.

CURRENT STATUS: nomen dubium View in CoL in Agromyzidae ( Papp 1984b: 342) View in CoL ; valid species, as Agromyza obscuritarsis ( Spencer & Martinez 1987: 256, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 9). The type species of the genus Domomyza Rondani, 1856 ( Domomyza cincta ) belongs to Drosophilidae View in CoL , not Agromyzidae View in CoL (see note on this nominal species, p. 108).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875b: 174) described Domomyza obscuritarsis without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being two specimens in the type series found in this study. Spencer & Martinez (1987: 256) designated a lectotype (♂) but did not mention a MZUF female with Spencer’s label indicating it as a paralectotype.
