TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Veracruz, Xuchil, S. E. side of Mt. Orizaba .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.

COMMENT: May be conspecific with hispidus ; see Hall, 1981: 512.

ISIS NUMBER: 5301410003003002001 as Heterogeomys lanius .
