TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., South Carolina, upper Savannah River .

DISTRIBUTION: S. Manitoba and Nova Scotia ( Canada) to Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia, east to Atlantic Coast ( U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Subgenus Tamias see Gromov et al., 1965:134. Type locality restricted by Howell, 1929, N. Am. Fauna, 52:14.
