TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Toluca .

DISTRIBUTION: S. New Mexico and W. Texas ( U.S.A.) to Jalisco and S. Puebla (C. Mexico).

COMMENT: Subgenus Ictidomys ; see Hall, 1981:394. Gromov et al., 1965:153, considered Ictidomys a distinct genus. Known to hybridize at several localities with tridecemlineatus ; see Cothran et al., 1977, J. Mammal., 58:610-622.
