This species has been frequently misidentified as H. atrocoxata Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1898 in overseas collections. H. atrocoxata is a smaller species that lacks orange on the forecoxae and is otherwise only known from Indonesia ( Brunner von Wattenwyl 1898).

Of note is that a small adventive population of this species is known from Tondoon Botanic Gardens, Gladstone, having likely arrived in tropical plants from further north ( Britstra 2020). They have seemingly not spread far beyond the initial introduction point.
