Samariscus nielseni Quéro, Hensley & Maugé, 1989 View in CoL —Nielsen's righteye flounder STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Hensley (2001a: 3876).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. South Africa, Madagascar and Papua New Guinea. Benthic on soft bottoms of deep lagoon and seaward slopes, 35– 150 m. Marine.
Samariscus triocellatus Woods, 1966 —Threespot righteye flounder
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.30626-002). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. South Africa; Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean) east to Hawaiian and Society islands, north to Taiwan, south to New Caledonia. Benthic on soft bottoms of lagoon and seaward slopes, 3– 15 m. Marine.
