Distribution in Iran. West Azarbaijan ( Samin et al. 2011).

General distribution. Europe, eastern and western Siberia, Turkey.

Biology. This species of bark beetle breeds primarily in species of Alnus (Betulaceae) , but also in Corylus (Betulaceae) and Fagus (Fagaceae) ( Balachowsky 1949; Stark 1952; Pfeffer 1995). The biology of the species is briefly described by Palm (1951) and Dodelin (2010).
