Distribution in Iran. Guilan ( Samin et al. 2011).
General distribution. Central and northern Europe, Ukraine, through Russia to Mongolia and northern China. Biology. The species normally breeds in species of Pinus , but occasionally attacks Larix and Picea (Pinaceae) ( Yanovskij 1999). Recorded in Iran from Pinus sylvestris (Pinaceae) ( Samin et al. 2011). Schedl (1962) briefly describes the gallery system.
