Orthotomicus proximus (Eichhoff, 1867) View in CoL
Distribution in Iran. East Azarbaijan ( Samin et al. 2011).
General distribution. Europe, Algeria, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Turkey, through Russia to northern China, Korea, Japan.
Biology. The species usually breeds in species of Pinus and Picea , occasionally in Abies and Larix (Pinaceae) ( Stark 1952). Recorded in Iran from Cedrus libani (Pinaceae) ( Samin et al. 2011). This is the first record from Cedrus , and the presence of the species in Iran needs confirmation. The biology and gallery system are described by Stark (1952) and Chararas (1962).
