Diagnosis. Irepacma flagellata can be separated from its congeners by having a flagelliform aedeagus. Irepacma flagellata is similar to I. magnisaccata in the male genitalia, but can be distinguished by having a heavily sclerotized gnathos, a costa of the valva with basal half concave inwardly and a sacculus hooked distally; in I. magnisaccata , the gnathos is weakly sclerotized, the costa of the valva is straight, and the sacculus is not hooked distally.
Description. Imago ( Figs. 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 − 6 ). Wingspan 13.0−22.0 mm. Head yellowish white. Labial palpus pale yellow; first segment mixed with scattered brown scales on outer surface, female with second and third segments scattered with brown scales on outer urface. Antenna with ventral surface pale yellow, dorsal surface blackish brown on scape, alternately blackish brown and pale yellow on flagellum. Thorax yellowish white; tegula yellowish brown.
Forewing pale yellow, scattered with pale yellowish brown scales; costal margin pale yellowish brown basally, orange yellow distally, with a large, ill-defined pale yellowish brown sub-circular spot placed beyond basal 2/3, which extends narrowly ventrad to before upper angle of cell and then obliquely outward to tornus; longitudinal pale yellowish brown stripe from base of fold to lower angle of cell; pale yellowish brown spot at middle of cell as well as below base of fold and at middle of fold; pale yellowish brown spots evenly distributed along termen; cilia orange yellow, lined with blackish brown at basal 1/3 and 2/3, scales blackish brown tipped. Hindwing and cilia pale yellow; cilia tinged with pale brown. Legs pale yellow; fore- and midlegs pale yellow dorsally, blackish brown ventrally, tarsi with brown speckles on outer surface; hindlegs pale yellow.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 − 11 ). Uncus with basal 1/4 wide, distal 3/4 narrow, parallel sided, setose ventrally. Gnathos with antero-median portion narrowly banded and weakly sclerotized, with a long, heavily sclerotized spinous process arising from lateral side. Tegumen inverted V shape, expanded anteriorly. Valva with costa concave inward on basal 1/2 and bearing stout long setae, ventral margin gently arched, apex rounded. Sacculus irregularly triangular, heavily sclerotized and slightly hooked distally, concave inward dorso-medially. Saccus triangular, about half length of valva, rounded anteriorly. Juxta V shaped, blunt anteriorly, lateral lobe with weakly sclerotized apical process. Aedeagus flagelliform, ovately dilated at base, slightly broadened from basal 1/4 to apex, distal 1/4 curved, tufted with short dense thorns.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 − 15 ). Papilla analis nearly oval, setose. Apophysis anterioris thorn-like, thicker and much shorter than apophysis posterioris. Lamella postvaginalis narrowly banded, with long stout setae. Antrum broadly V shaped. Ductus bursae sclerotized, granulate, poaterior 3/4 nearly same width, anterior 1/4 slightly wider. Corpus bursae membranous, oval, slightly shorter than half length of ductus bursae; signum absent.
Distribution. China ( Taiwan).
Etymology. The specific name is from the Latin flagellaris, referring to the shape of the aedeagus.
