Nada , 9.viii.2016, ♀ ( JU 93 [7]) ( FRIM) .

Diagnosis. A relatively small species (ca 6.0 mm long) with pale brownish yellow dorsum and black elytral apices ( Figs 222−224 View FIGURES 222−229 ); ventral surfaces pale yellowish brown except for dark brown head, antennae, palpi and tibiae and tarsi of all legs, and white LOs in V6, 7 ( Figs 222, 223 View FIGURES 222−229 ); LO halves in V7 very close in median line where the inner margins are subparallel sided; with a low narrow median carina with an acute ventral edge; well-developed MPP which is medianly emarginated and prolonged into short hooks which arise from the posterior margin of the MPP and are visible from below; MPP not much longer than wide, much longer than PLP which are rounded, horizontal and little produced; T8 ( Figs 226−228 View FIGURES 222−229 ) lateral margins slightly convex sided; most of posterior margin straight with small narrow and shallow median emargination; posterolateral corners not produced; median ventral trough present; flanges apically rounded both inclining towards median line. Aedeagal sheath 6x as long as wide. Aedeagus ( Fig. 229 View FIGURES 222−229 ) 5 x as long as wide; b/a approximately 0.3.

Remarks. The type series of C. brevis was examined by Ballantyne prior to the discovery of the usefulness of the aedeagal sheath character, which was not investigated. No type males had full antennae or legs, and Ballantyne’s records of that time indicate her difficulty in interpretation of the extent of the LO in V7, and the size of the median carina in V7. This was overcome by examination of a single freshly bred male from peninsula Malaysia in which the antennae have FS 7−9 shortened and all legs are complete. Dissections are of this specimen.
