Material examined. 484 specimens: 249 ♂, 235 ♀.

Diagnosis. Body length 9.5–11.0 mm, integument of body reddish black, elytra yellowish red, antennal club reddish brown with the apex darkened; femora and tibiae reddish brown; pronotum with scattered, scale-like yellow setae; elytra with two well-defined longitudinal bands of setae on the interstriae 1 and 3; interstriae 2 and 4 costate, glabrous; pygidium with scattered, scale-like, light yellow setae (Fig. 13); parameres long, oval, the basal half rounded externally, the apical half straight and slender, laterally with a sinus that sometimes has a membranous cover, apices lanceolate, triangular with the sharp apex (Figs. 24–25). Female similar to the male; genital plates (Fig. 26).

Natural history. This species inhabits humid montane forests, between 1,000 and 1,650 m (additional information in Arce-Pérez & Morón 2000, 2005, 2011).

Geographical distribution. Mexico (Chiapas), Belize (Sarstoon River), Guatemala (Alta Verapaz, Antiqua, Baja Verapaz, Chimaltenango, Dueñas, Escuintla, Guatemala, Puerta Parada), Honduras (El Paraíso, Francisco Morazán), El Salvador (La Palma), Nicaragua (Chontales) (Fig. 85). This species also occurs in Costa Rica and Panama.

Remarks. Previously the distribution of this species in Chiapas was doubted, but now its presence has been confirmed in Huixtla, Santa Rita Coronado, 1,380 m, 13.vi.2003, M. Blas, 2 ♂, 2 ♀ [IEXA].
