External head structures

The head is similar to that of Trechiotes in its general appearance, markedly wedge-shaped in lateral view and moderately long, with the distance of the anterior labral margin to the postocciput slightly longer than the maximum width of the ocular region. Its coloration is blackish-brown. The rather large, compound eyes (ce; Figs. 1d View Fig and 2f View Fig ) are very distinctly protruding laterally. The clypeus is slightly longer than the labrum. Paired dorsal furrows (ff; Fig. 1d View Fig ) are present, and diverging posterior branches almost reach the posterior supraocular ridge (sor; Fig. 1d View Fig ). Short and deep longitudinal furrows are present between the anterior tentorial pits and the antennae. The circular line (cirl; Fig. 1d View Fig ) on the caudal fourth of the head obliterates towards the posterior tentorial pits, terminating on the caudal third of the head capsule. About one third of the head is retracted into the thorax. The subparallel gula (gu; Fig. 1f View Fig ) is about one half as long as the head capsule, and its maximum width is about one fifth of the distance between the outer margins of the eyes.
