Taxonomy. New record from Lebanon, based on a specimen collected from off Tripoli (December 2017). Material in collection: AUBM ( CH 0028) .

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, eastern Atlantic: northwestern North Sea and English Channel to Senegal; Madagascar.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (VU: A2bcd+4bd, 1 March 2007); Med. (CR: A2bd, 25 March 2016). Capture and threats: FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Medium priority for conservation action.
