Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Etmopterus spinax View in CoL by Aguillar et al. (2018: 81).

Distribution. Western Baltic Sea, northern North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, eastern Atlantic: Iceland and Norway to Senegal.

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 1 December 2008); Med. ( LC: 25 March 2016). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Low priority for conservation action .
