Taxonomy. New record from Lebanon, based on photos and videos of an individual spotted off Batroun (10 March 2015) ; landed in Tyre (16 March 2015) ; spotted off Damour (4 March 2017) and off Jounieh (28 March 2017) .

Distribution. Probably circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas (including Mediterranean Sea). Conservation. IUCN: Global (EN: A2d, 22 October 2014); Med. (EN: A2d, 25 March 2016); CITES Appendix II. Capture and threats: FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Rare. High priority for conservation action.
