Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Aphia minuta (Risso) View in CoL by Mouneimné (1977: 65); subsequently recorded as Aphia minuta (Risso 1810) View in CoL by Mouneimné (2002: 218). Recent unpublished records from Tripoli (16 October 2010). Material in collection: AUBM (OS3797).

Distribution. Western Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: Norway south to Morocco.

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 11 March 2014); Med. (NE). Capture and threats: FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Rare. Low priority for conservation action .
